Rohrer & Klingner Pernambuco

Saturday, March 13, 2010

I bought some bottles of Rohrer & Klinger at The Writing Desk from the United Kingdom. Great shop that I can recommend to you.

Color
The color is named after the Brazillian Wood called blood-wood. This plant has a dense, orange-red heartwood that takes a high shine, and it is the premier wood used for making bows for string instruments. The wood also yields a red dye called brazilin, which oxidizes to brazilein.

Sheaffer Red (ink review)

Thursday, February 18, 2010

This really surprising bottle of ink I bought in Groningen (in the Northern part of the Netherlands close by where we live) in a store called "De Vulpenwereld" (translation: "Fountain Pen World"). It is a really nice small fountain pen store with excellent staff. The ink sometimes called by it's second name Skrip.
Sheaffer Red

Color
I read a lot about this ink on The Fountain Pen Network. Some said it was the perfect red color. I do a lot of accentuating and highlighting with a red color. I'm not a teacher, but I think this Sheaffer Red color is excellent for grading students. It has some nice darker red shading in it.

Sailor Jentle Ink Irore red (winter 2009)

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Sailor brought some great colors in a limited edition for winter 2009. I never owned Sailor inks, so I was very curious. I did some Sailor Jentle Ink Irore Red in my Lamy Vista (fine). I took some pictures in the Dutch winter snow.
Sailor Jentl Ink Irore Red

Color
This red color is really red. It reminds a bit of Pelikan Red. Pelikan Red tends a little bit to orange. This Sailor Irore Red is vivid as the Pelikan but more red. The color is very saturated with almost no shading.

De Atramentis Spätburgunder Ink review

Friday, December 4, 2009

De Atramentis is a great German ink manufacturer De Atramentis. They have a large assortiment of all kinds of ink. They have scented inks, inks based on whiskey and inks based on wine. I did a review of De Atramentis Dornfelder which was a great ink.

De Atramentis Dornfelder Ink review

Friday, November 27, 2009

I saw a website of a German ink manufacturer De Atramentis. They have a large assortiment of all kinds of ink. They have scented inks, inks based on whiskey and inks based on wine. That last was some kind of decadent idea for me. But I could not let it go and had to do a review on this inks. Hmmm drinking a real German Dornfelder red wine writing a review.

J. Herbin Rouge Caroubier (ink review)

Thursday, September 24, 2009

J. Herbin Rouge Caroubier is a French ink manufacturer. I bought this bottle at La Couronne du Comte the Netherlands. They were my first ink's, in exploring the world of fountain pen ink.
J. Herbin Rouge Caroubier

Color
The color of the ink reminds a little bit of Iroshizuku momiji. But J. Herbin made the Rouge Caroubier a little bit more red. It is more sparkling in a way. I must see I like the color very much. The French name means

Iroshizuku is a great ink that is produced by Pilot. When the package arrived at my home is was blown away by it's appearance and product design. The names of the ink's sound very exotic. This ink was bought at Jetpens in Japan.
Iroshizuku momiji

Color
It is a great color. I never seen such a beautiful red. It is kind of red with some pink reminding of strawberry's.

Writing
This ink is very great. I was never more excited about a fountain pen ink (besides Noodler's Black) then this one.

Review Pelikan Red Fountainpen Ink

It was my daughter who urged me to buy this ink. She loves the bright red (almost orange) color of it. I bought this bottle at Writer's Bloc. Great shop, fast service!

Review Visconti Burgundy (red)

Thursday, August 20, 2009

What a nice bottle! I bought this Visconti Burgundy at Casa della Stilografica when me and my wife visited Florence. The bottle was cause of some words father and son (owner of the shop) had. But later more on that! What a great shop. It is a small shop but you can't imagine what they have!

Review Noodler's Cayenne (red)

Monday, August 3, 2009

I bought my Noodler's Cayenne from World Lux Seattle (United States). They have great service. One bottle broke and the whole shipment was covered with Noodler's Cayenne..... really messy. When I reported this they send me a whole new shipment. Great work guys. A good company can be measured at their customer service. Well in this case I can recommend World Lux.
