Sailor Jentle Ink Tokiwa Green (winter 2009)

Thursday, December 24, 2009

Sailor brought some great colors in a limited edition for winter 2009. I never owned Sailor inks, so I was very curious. I put some Sailor Jentle Ink Tokiwa Green in my Lamy Safari (fine) and wrote this review. The pictures are made in the wonderful Dutch snow. My daughter Jessica was willing to be model. ;-)

Color
This green color is a nice green. It is the green from the Christmas tree. It has a nice subtle shading. It is a green to use every day when you don't like black or blue.

Writing
I wrote this review with a Lamy Safari (fine). This ink dries very fast on Moleskine paper, about 5-7 seconds. The ink has good flow and does not bleed through in combination with this pen. It does not feather. On Rhodia paper it takes between 15 en 20 seconds to dry. Strange, most inks take two times the time on Rhodia paper. But with this ink it takes longer then that.

Can't read it? Here's the translation:
"Sailor Jentle Ink Tokiwa Mat Green

I filled my Lamy Safari (fine) with Sailor Jentle Ink Tokiwa Mat Green. It is the winter 2009 limited edition.

What a very nice distinctive green color to write with. It indeed reminds on a Christmas tree. This is really a green color for daily use if you don't like blue or black.

In combination with this Lamy Safari (fine) the ink writes smooth and does not feather or bleed through this beautiful Moleskine pages. It has a great drying time.

It is not a cheap ink $ 0,30/ml.

Bottle
In the bottle is some kind of device as an insert to provide that you can get the last drop of ink out of the bottle. It does work for small nibs, such as the Lamy Vista, Safari or Montblanc 146. But for a Montblanc 149 or Pelikan M1000 it does not work and the plastic piece has to be taken out of the bottle to fill them.

Desktopimage
Here's a desktop you may use freely. It is at 1920 x 1200. Click on this link.

Moleskinefriendly
This ink is Moleskine friendly. Their was no feathering. With a medium nib fountain pen I saw some dots coming through on a blank Moleskine paper. So no 100% but a good "Moleskinefriendly"

Sailor fountain pen ink is made in Japan from their exclusive formulas. Both bottled and cartridge inks are an alkaline base. Any of the sailor inks can be mixed with one another to create your *perfect* color. Sailor ink should not be mixed with other brands of ink.
